Common questions
Do I need to pay for noodle?
No. The app is free. You use your own API key, and the provider (OpenRouter or Google) bills you directly for what you use. noodle adds no markup.
How do I get an API key?
The easiest way is to connect OpenRouter during setup. It creates a key for you in one step and gives you access to models from every major provider. You can also paste a key from OpenRouter or Google AI Studio in Settings → API configuration.
A model says I'm out of credits or my key was rejected.
Check your balance and key with the provider. For OpenRouter, visit openrouter.ai/settings/credits. You can update your key in Settings → API configuration.
How do I sync between my iPhone and iPad?
Turn on Sign in with Apple and iCloud sync on each device, using the same Apple Account. Your chats, settings and keys sync through your own iCloud. Make sure iCloud Drive is turned on in your device settings.
Where are my chats stored?
On your device, and in your own iCloud if you turn on sync. We don't keep copies. See the Privacy Policy for the details.
What's goldfish mode?
A temporary chat. It's never saved to your history, and by default it doesn't use your profile or memories. Tap the dashed chat bubble to start one.
How do I make noodle forget something?
Just ask it to forget. noodle removes that fact and shows a small notice when it does. You can also review, edit and delete everything it remembers in Settings → personalization.
How do I delete my data?
Delete individual chats from your history, or delete all history in Settings. Resetting noodle in Settings, or deleting the app, removes everything on the device. If you used iCloud sync, also delete noodle's data in your device's iCloud settings.
Can I run my own backend?
noodle can connect to a backend you host. Go to Settings → API configuration → backend → self-hosted and paste your server's HTTPS address. We're preparing the backend for an open-source release so anyone can run it.
